Frequently Asked Questions

There are a lot of questions that we are asked in our line of work. The most common ones are answered right here! If you need to ask anything at all, feel free to get in touch with us!

How does a home solar system work?

A home solar system converts sunlight into electricity using solar panels, which contain photovoltaic cells. These cells generate direct current (DC) electricity, which is then converted into alternating current (AC) electricity by an inverter. The electricity produced can power the home’s appliances, with excess energy either stored in batteries or fed back into the grid. This allows homeowners to reduce their dependence on traditional energy sources and lower their electricity bills.

What is installed as a part of a solar system?

As part of a solar system installation, solar panels are attached on the roof or in an open area to capture sunlight. An inverter is installed to convert the direct current (DC) electricity generated by the panels into alternating current (AC) electricity used by most home appliances. Additionally, a battery storage system can be installed to store excess electricity for later use or to provide backup power during outages.

Can I add more panels to my system?

Yes, you can typically add more solar panels to your system, provided there is sufficient space available, and your inverter can handle the additional capacity. Contact us to make sure your system can accommodate the extra panels.

Can I add Brightbox to my solar system?

Yes, you can typically add Brightbox, Tesla’s home battery storage solution, to your solar system to store excess energy for later use or backup power during outages.

Will my panels work in winter?

Yes, solar panels will still generate electricity in winter. However, their output may be slightly reduced due to shorter daylight hours and less intense sunlight.
